The Counseling Center supports the wellbeing and resiliency of students as they navigate life while enrolled at Texas State University. Services include consultation, crisis response, brief counseling, prevention activities and educational workshops/webinars.

The Counseling Center offers a variety of services for students, virtual or in-person.   All Counseling Services are available to students from the San Marcos or Round Rock Campus. The following areas provide more information.  Students can also call 512-245-2208 for more information. 

Initial Consultation

The Initial Consultation is required for students who have never received services at the Counseling Center.  This process is also appropriate if you were seen prior to the current academic year.

Returning Client

If you were seen previously during the current academic year, please call 512-245-2208 to schedule an appointment. You do not need to do the initial consultation and complete online paperwork. 

Group Counseling

Working on therapy goals within a group setting can be a supportive and productive way to address personal concerns. Group members meet weekly to explore a specific topic and develop coping skills. 

TimelyCare

Texas State University has partnered with TimelyCare, a service that offers free, on-demand mental health services directly to our students via use of the TimelyCare App.

Assistance is available to find a provider in the community for long-term therapy, specialized services, or other needs.

Counseling Center staff provide consultation to Faculty/staff, family and friends at 512-245-2208.

Training Programs

The Texas State University Counseling Center offers several clinical training opportunities for graduate students in professional psychology.  All placements begin in the Fall semester, with orientation activities occurring in August.
